Red Bamboo and Silvermine signs Leonidas Gulaptis
7 January 2012
Red Bamboo and Silvermine Entertainment is proud to have signed Australian Actor Leonidas Gulaptis as part of the managment company. With pilot season is fast approaching we are looking forward to a very successful year for young Leon.
Leonidas Gulaptis was born in Grafton Base Hospital on 13/05/1985. He lived in a beautiful river town called Maclean, population 3000. It was in this town where sport played a big part of Leon’s childhood. After representing NSW school boys and touring places such as South Africa and New Zealand he moved to Sydney 3 days after his HSC to pursue a career in cricket.
A year later, Leon turned back to his roots of playing around with the video camera as a child was where he had to be. He would annoy the hell out of his parents by having 50 wardrobe changes all over the house while making his movies.
The road to acting certainly wasn't easy for him at one point losing his job, house, girlfriend, no money in his account and sleeping in his unregistered car in the space of 2 weeks. But he kept believing in his passion.
After featuring in various commercials from 2005-2007 saw him meet his Mentor and close friend Grant Thompson.
With Grant’s Mr Miyagi style approach and Leon’s hard work saw him land respected Sydney agent Sophie Jermyn. Together they have teamed up to see him in Underbelly 2, Australia’s highest grossing drama audience of all time. Ben Hur, narrated by Russell Crowe. (The biggest stage production to land on Australian waters). Soldier Boy, playing Cecil Hogan with 3 shows a day to a house of 500.
With over a dozen commercials, TV drama, presenting segments, short films, Theatre productions. You will see him next in the film “Toolies”. A comedy following four mates going to the Gold Coast to prey on young women. He then follows it up with “The Chapter” a drama where he will be playing Detective William Young, to come out in 2012.
To show he is not one dimension, Leon has written a feature film and shot a trailer called “Changing Tides”. It is about a talented Australian surfer Chase Bennett, who has an attitude problem and gets sent to summer camp in America, as a camp counselor. In which Leon will play the lead.
With Leon’s hard work, self-belief and constant knocking on doors he firmly believes that if you want something bad enough you can get it.
